NEW ORLEANS, November 19, 2025: Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative (ADDI) has opened applications for the Global Neurodegeneration Proteomics Consortium (GNPC) Proteomics Data Challenge. Researchers worldwide are invited to analyze the GNPC Harmonized Data Set on the AD Workbench, including Answer ALS cohort datasets. The goal is to accelerate biomarker discovery and improve detection, prognosis, and potential treatment pathways across neurodegenerative diseases.

The Challenge is open to researchers, data scientists, and clinicians. All analyses must run inside AD Workbench. Submissions are due January 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific, with decisions expected in March 2026.
Answer ALS is listed among the datasets available for use alongside the GNPC Harmonized Data Set. This allows teams to explore proteomic questions with cross-disease context by incorporating longitudinal clinical and omics data from people living with ALS.
Awards will be made for each priority research question. First prizes are $10,000 USD and second prizes are $5,000 USD, for up to 16 total prizes. Winning teams will receive publication support, and code will be shared openly with the community to maximize reuse and impact.
Participants will choose one of the Challenge’s priority questions, including topics such as longitudinal protein dynamics, plasma markers and progression, prognostic markers, subtyping Alzheimer’s disease, delaying onset, and earlier diagnosis. Researchers may also propose an additional question for consideration by November 1, 2025.
How to Enter:
- Submit your application via the portal with your project details by the deadline at:
GNPC Proteomics Data Challenge Application Link - Request access to the GNPC Harmonized Data Set and any optional cohorts in AD Workbench.
- Conduct all analyses entirely within your AD Workbench workspace.
Answer ALS encourages investigators to bring ALS questions and expertise to this cross-disease effort and to leverage the availability of Answer ALS data in the AD Workbench to generate findings that can translate back to people living with ALS.
